Blocks Extensible Exchange Protocol an
application protocol framework for connection-oriented,
asynchronous request/response interactions. It was designed as a tool kit specifically to handle
XML documents on the
Internet. BXXP-enabled applications set up and maintain a
peer-to-peer network connection between two users that can alternate between functioning as
clients and
servers. The two users can
push data back and forth over a network connection as well as respond to requests for data.
BXXP is layered directly on top of TCP and acts as an alternative to HTTP or other data exchange protocols. Since HTTP does not work well for the transfer of XML data, BXXP helps developers create special-purpose protocols to support multiple simultaneous exchanges in XML between users. For example, users can chat and transfer files at the same time from one application that employs a network connection.
